How many gamers are there out there? I’m a huge gamer myself, so I wanted to share a few of the games that I enjoy playing. Here’s a look into my top 5 favorite video games. I have selected mostly games that I grew up playing.
5. Halo 3
Halo 3 was my first time playing a first person shooter game online. This is the only game that I have completed 100%. I spent my weekends drinking a 12 pack of mountain dew and playing Halo with my buddy Jordan aka ShutUpBeavis7.
4. Call of Duty World at War
When I heard Call of Duty was making a World War 2 game I thought I didn’t want to play it, but after playing the open beta, I feel in love with WAW. The amount of detail they added in the game was insane and still holds up with todays graphics. Everything from game play to graphics to the story line was perfect. Gary Oldman and Keith Sutherland were brilliant in their voice overs.
3. MLB: The Show 06
Baseball is my first love, I could watch or play baseball all day everyday. I used to spend my summers playing baseball outside before it got to hot, then I would go downstairs to our cold unfinished basement to play The Show for 6 hours. I would play the show mode which is when you start off in the minor leagues trying to work your way up to the majors. My first time through the game I started in the year 2005 and retired in 2020.
2. Diddy Kong Racing N64
I still play Diddy Kong Racing from time to time. Last weekend I played it and tried to beat the game. I have to say its the hardest child game I have ever played. The goal of the game is to race to collect balloons from purple elephants. There are five different worlds to race in and three different modes of transportation; hovercraft, race car, and plane. After you beat each race then you have to face the bosses.
Honorable Mention
Runescape consumed most of my free time in middle school. It was a fun MMO ( massively multiplayer online ) Runescape taught me how to type and type quickly. I reached level 99 in most of the skills in the game which takes forever to do. I used to play with my cousin and childhood friend. The reason Runescape didn’t make the list is because on December 20th, 2007, the game became dead to me. The developers of the game removed some features that I loved.
1. Roller Coaster Tycoon 1
I don’t know where to start with this one. RCT was my first PC game and I have been playing it off and on since the game came out in 1999. Chris Sawyer did a phenomenal job on this game. He created RCT with x86 assembly language which is crazy to think, because the game runs flawlessly. I loved building ridiculously large and fast rollercoasters. I loved the challenge of building a park with little money and growing it into a gigantic park. One of the parks I created was a replica or a close as possible to Cedar Point. It took me two long summer months to get something close to the park.
