Welcome Haley Cook to the Nextfly team!
Hi! My name is Haley Cook and I graduated from IU in May with a degree in journalism, a specialization in public relations and marketing and a minor in apparel merchandising! I spent the last four months as a reporter for three different newspapers near my hometown which was an amazing experience and I got to meet so many cool people. Now, I’m excited to start at Nextfly doing what I love!
I grew up in a super small farm town named Jamestown Indiana. So small that if you Google it, it has a population of 937. Post-college I moved to a small apartment in Speedway Indiana which is a huge change compared to my hometown. Luckily I had four years in Bloomington which gave me some time to adjust to the “city life.” I live with my boyfriend and my four year old cat, Bagel. She is pretty much the light of my life and I spoil her in every way possible, she pays me back by biting me.
At home, I have a 17 year old brother, Wyatt, a little dog named Edie and a cat named Lillabette.
In my free time I like watching scary movies on Netflix, watching Food Network and trying to experiment and cook new healthy and unique foods. I also recently took up hot yoga which has been an adventure in itself. I love to try new things and am always looking to increase my skill sets in all aspects of life! I spend a lot of time writing for Bachelor and Kardashian fan sites to satisfy my guilty pleasures as well as manage the social media sites for both of them. I’m a big advocate for marine life and keeping the oceans clean. The ocean is pretty much my favorite place on the planet and I will visit it any chance I get! On the weekends you can find me hanging out with friends or wandering around IKEA looking for new ways to decorate my apartment.
I love digital marketing and have held internships with both the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and the Indianapolis Zoo where I got to pursue my passions for writing, social media and animals. During those internships I gained experience in social media, tracking analytics and writing. I also spent my days taking photos and videos of adorable rescued animals, it really doesn’t get much better than that!
I’m excited to take these passions past just internships, personal branding and classes and get to help real people grow their businesses digitally. I am excited to take such a big step so close to graduation and start using my degree right away with Nextfly!
